Guest blog! Resolutions and Banana bread

New Year’s Resolutions and Banana Bread

This past week, we said goodbye to January and hello to February. It feels like a good time to go back and reflect on the New Year’s Resolutions we did (or didn’t) make. I’m always shy to make (and publicly declare) any resolutions for fear of failure and the negative feelings that come along with it. Over the years I’ve tried to reframe my resolutions not as a success or failure, but as a continuum of progress in a positive direction.

As I reflect, I celebrate a TINY change I first introduced in 2021 or 2022. I decided to try bringing reusable grocery bags to the store instead of using their plastic bags. I started keeping them in the back of my car so they would always be with me anytime I happened to stop by the grocery store. Have there been times when I forgot to bring my reusable bags with me into the store? So many times!

These days, I choose to focus on my positive progress and the times I remember to bring my reusable grocery bags with me. When I forget, I’m quick to forgive these misses and get back on the path for my next grocery store visit!

Many of us made health related resolutions that include nourishing our bodies with more fresh fruits and vegetables. Thank you Holland Botanical for making this so convenient! Here’s to celebrating your PROGRESS! Keep up the fantastic work!

This week we had some over-ripe bananas from Holland Botanical so I decided to make banana bread.  There are so many banana bread recipes out there.  I like the ones that add some warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.   This time I chose one that uses honey for the sweetener.

It was a delicious treat for breakfast and snacks!

Thank you Natalie for another great blog!
